GUESS WHO…. AGAIN… 😂 I just wanted to share a quick little story… last weekend I hosted a gathering of female artists from around Chicago who are also mothers. Most of these women are super educated and “high brow” in our Chicago art scene. Women who have their PHDs in movement studies and literature… professors at the Art Institute and architects who have headed global projects. There was a time in my life when I would have respectfully declined an offer to be a part of such a group, Easily intimidated by their level of education and “success”. The only thing I gained from my attempt at a college education is student loan debt and the knowledge that traditional education is not for me. But last Saturday I had all these amazing women in my living room, sitting by my fireplace, drinking coffee and discussing a project I’ve been working on for a couple of years and I felt nothing but support and respect. I felt so empowered by them. I shared with them the story I shared on here a few months back about Vigilante Shit and it started such a beautiful, vulnerable discussion. We were all crying and hugging and “SAME, SISTER! “SAME!”-ing. The energy in the room was so intense… I was delightfully depleted by the time they all went home. All of this to say… I’ve been using this piece as a hype-woman. I’ve been dancing this dance and using it as an affirmation (thanks for the tip @KAYLABRENDA)! The power of affirmations and mindset are so real and bring about incredible opportunities!!! Go be bold and powerful and all that good shit…. It feels so incredible. 💜
